Newlywed SPENCER PRATT has scrapped plans to spend the holidays with his new mother-in-law after derogatory comments she made about him went public this week (beg01Dec08).
The reality TV star, who eloped to Mexico with longtime partner and The Hills co-star Heidi Montag in November (Nov08), has been left hurt and angry by comments Darlene Egelhoff has made about the last-minute nuptials.
Speaking to America's Us Weekly magazine, Pratt's new mother-in-law accused the star of drugging her daughter, stating the marriage is "the biggest mistake Heidi ever made".
She also insists the marriage won't last six months.
An incensed Pratt phoned in to Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest's show on Thursday morning (04Dec08), to fire back at his new bride's mum.
He said, "I can't wait to prove her wrong and be married for the rest of our lives... I'm sure she's just hurt and reacting crazy because she wasn't there.
"I think she thinks she's being funny and, like, playing into her character (on The Hills) - that she hates me."
Pratt admitted he confronted Egelhoff on Wednesday (03Dec08), while they were filming an episode of The Hills: "(It) was pretty much the most insane day of my entire life."
After reading the article in Us Weekly, Pratt has now vetoed plans to spend Christmas with his new mother-in-law, insisting he and his wife will probably spend the holidays alone.
