NELSON LOOMS LARGE OVER FARM AID IN MISSOURI

Farm Aid's first Missouri benefit was all about charity founder WILLIE NELSON, who headlined Sunday's (04Oct09) show at St Louis' Verizon Wireless Ampitheatre.
The grizzled country singer and activist, who helped create the annual Farm Aid concert in 1986, joined Dave Matthews and Neil Young onstage before ending the show with many of the event's performers and a choir of Native Americans.
Prior to his headlining slot, fellow Farm Aid regular John Mellencamp and Wilco also played short sets.
Matthews paid tribute to Nelson after the country star joined him for a rendition of Grave Digger, telling the crowd, "There are few people like him on earth. The more we get behind things he believes in, the better we’ll be."
Nelson also made the festival a family affair when he invited his son Lukas to join him onstage for a rendition of fan favourite Me & Paul.
