NEIL: 'BANDMATES WANTED ME TO DO DRUGS'

Rocker VINCE NEIL struggled to beat his alcohol and drug addictions - because his MOTLEY CRUE bandmates wanted him to carry on partying.
The frontman has long battled with his addiction problems, and was involved in a drink-driving car crash in 1984 which killed Hanoi Rocks musician Nicholas Dingley.
Neil attempted to get help following the fatality and attended rehab several times, but failed to get clean.
He insists his bandmates, including Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx, were reluctant to help him beat his drug demons because they loved partying with him.
Neil says, "I killed my best friend in a car wreck when I was drunk. I didn't really go to jail. The times were different then. If it had happened now, I would be in prison. Do I regret what happened? Absolutely. Of course I do. It was a stupid thing to do but we were buddies out drinking and it just happened. I didn't do it on purpose. If he had been driving, I'd be dead.
"Afterwards I tried (to straighten out) for a while but then I got back into the same old motions. The band was never supportive of me not drinking and doing drugs. They wanted me to do it."
