NBC NAMES BON JOVI "ARTIST IN RESIDENCE"

For the next two months singer Jon Bon Jovi will have the title of "artist in residence" at NBC. As part of an effort to promote his new album, The Circle , Bon Jovi has agreed to appear exclusively on the NBC network, its local television stations, and the NBC-owned Bravo cable channel, where he will appear on Inside the Actors Studio , even though he has done relatively little acting during his career. In an interview with today's (Thursday) New York Times , Bon Jovi acknowledged that by giving NBC such exclusivity, "we have to sacrifice certain shows and relationships. We hope this doesn't jeopardize any of them. But in a shrinking media environment, you have to kind of reinvent the wheel." Although the "artist in residence" idea originated with Bon Jovi's manager, Jack Rovner (the former head of RCA Records), the Times said that NBC plans to make it a regular feature.
