NAS IN FATHER'S DAY TRIBUTE

Rapper NAS has taken to the Internet to pay tribute to dads across the world ahead of this weekend's (20-21Jun09) Father's Day celebrations.
The hip-hop star is currently battling his estranged wife Kelis over their unborn baby, with the rap star last month (May09) urging a judge to deny his ex's request for spousal support and legal costs. The former couple is also warring over custody arrangements for the baby.
But Nas refuses to let his personal problems cloud his appreciation of the upcoming holiday (21Jun09) and has written an online blog to declare his support for fathers everywhere - insisting dads should get more credit.
He writes on Russell Simmons’ Global Grind website, "Like Chris Rock said.. 'All we fathers get is the big piece of chicken - if we are lucky.' Moms get songs by the O'Jays and everything! Moms deserve that love, but right now I'm shouting out to real dads.
"Some are great role models with real academic achievements. Some are not. Some are no longer alive. Some fathers are locked up, but they are praying for their kids and hoping to be on the streets soon and be betters dads one day.
"We deserve the love! Becuz (sic) we don't even expect it, we do what we do regardless! With no signs of a reward for it. We put up with everything, standing true to what's real and letting life take its course protecting our household, our woman, our children, our family.
"Shout out to my pops, a great man! Biggest shout to my son on the way! It’s a GREAT DAY!"
Nas also has a 15-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
