NARNIA STAR FELT SORRY FOR NAIVE SEXUAL PARTNER IN FILM

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH + THE WARDROBE star JAMES MCAVOY was left reeling by love scenes in hard-hitting new movie THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND because his naive African co-star thought she'd actually have to make love to the Scot. The actor sat in on the audition process as a string of beautiful Africans were interviewed for the role, and he admits at one point he didn't think they'd ever find the right girl. He explains, "Nobody in Uganda would accept the role after it was explained what it involved. As soon as the director, KEVIN MCDONALD, said, 'You will have to take your top off,' they would stand up and walk out. Some of them looked like they were gonna hit him." And when they did find the right girl, who shares an intimate scene with MCAvoy, the actor himself felt a little sleazy. He adds, "Her name was SARAH and on the day we did it she's in this little tiny room with a bunch of white guys and she's the only black person and she's terrified because she's having to do the sex scene. "She said, 'We don't actually have to have sex, do we?' Of course she would think that. She's in a country where people don't watch films every two seconds. "For all she knows, when she's seen a film, they are having sex. I felt horrible. The poor girl broke my heart."
