NAOMI CAMPBELL SETTLES WITH MAID OVER 'ASSAULT' CLAIM

Naomi Campbell has reached a legal settlement with a former maid who claimed the supermodel assaulted her.

Gaby Gibson claimed the 38-year-old hit her, called her names and threatened to have her arrested for theft over a pair of Stella McCartney jeans which went missing from Campbell's apartment.

Campbell's representatives denied Ms Gibson's claims and the Streatham-born model was never charged with any offence.

A confidential settlement has today been reached, an outcome with which both sides were pleased, according to Campbell's lawyer.

Campbell was sentenced to 200 hours community service in June last year after pleading guilty to assaulting a police officer at Heathrow airport in April 2008.

She was detained at the airport's new Terminal 5 +after a row broke out between the model and airline staff when she was informed that some of her baggage had been lost.

As a result of the row, police were called and the supermodel was arrested, handcuffed and led off the plane, before being later released on bail.

The settlement reached today was not the first occasion on which Campbell has encountered legal difficulties concerning former employees.

In 2007, she was sentenced to community service and ordered to attend anger management classes in New York after being convicted of assault.

As punishment for throwing a mobile phone at her maid the model also was made to clean toilets and sweep floors for five days.
