MYLO ESCAPES DRINK-DRIVING CHARGES
Scottish dance star MYLO has avoided a drink-driving charge after two police officers failed to turn up for his court case. The musician, real name Myles MCInnes, appeared at Glasgow District Court earlier this week (ends23Dec07) over an incident in March (07), in which he was stopped by police in the city for being over the legal alcohol limit. But two police officer witnesses who were scheduled to appear at the case failed to turn up to court. Prosecutors had hoped to delay the case despite the no-show, but the charges were subsequently dropped. Graham Walker, MCInnes' lawyer, had argued for the case to be abandoned after the charges had exceeded a six-month limit for bringing drink-driving cases to court. He says, "I had intended to call for the case to be deserted. However I was not aware that the two police witnesses would not turn up, which then became another argument for the charges to be dropped. It would not have been fair on my client to have the case adjourned."
