MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE'S PURE SONGS

My Chemical Romance say they have removed all ''bells and whistles'' from their next album after working with producer Brendan O'Brien.

My Chemical Romance are making a "pure" album.

The group are currently in the studio recording the long-awaited follow up to 2006's 'The Black Parade' and frontman Gerard Way says they are going back to basics with a stripped-down sound.

He said: "At this point, the best way to describe the new album is My Chemical Romance being the purest, most distilled version of itself.

"No bells and whistles, as the focus has been on melody and songwriting. If it doesn't work in a room with just the five of us, we aren't trying to make it work in the studio with effects and string sections."

The group are recording with Aerosmith and Bruce Springsteen producer Brendan O'Brien and the 'Teenagers' rockers say he brings out the best in them.

Gerard explained: "Brendan is the kind of producer who really likes a lot of things going on at once, so we're tracking and he's going right across the hall and mixing. It's a process that always keeps everyone involved the whole time.

"We love him, we're having the best time of our lives. It's a total blast. I feel like it's getting close to being finished. We're doing tracking now. There's no title yet. It's crazy - this is the first time we're waiting to get really far into the project before choosing a title. I'm actually kind of excited about that. It's kind of 'anything goes' at this point, but I'm so happy with the songs."
