MUSICIAN SAXON DIES
The lead singer of 1960s rock band THE SEEDS has died.
Sky Saxon passed away in hospital in Austin, Texas on Thursday (25Jun09) after falling ill earlier this month. His exact cause of death is not yet known.
His wife Sabrina wrote on her MySpace.com page, "Sky has passed over. He will soon be home with his Father. I'm so sorry I couldn't keep him here with us."
The singer, born Richard Marsh in 1946, found fame in the early 1960s as pop singer Little Richie Marsh and later changed his name to Sky Saxon.
In 1965 he founded The Seeds, whose tracks included Can't Seem to Make You Mine and (You're) Pushin' Too Hard, but just two years later Saxon broke up the group and formed the Sky Saxon Blues Band.
More recently, he collaborated with The Smashing Pumpkins' frontman Billy Corgan and was playing with a new band called Shapes Have Fangs.
He is survived by his wife Sabrina.
