MUSE drummer Dominic Howard has said the band have begun writing material for their fifth studio album.

The band holed up in a French chateau to write their last album, 2006's BLACK HOLES AND REVELATIONS.

However, the band have since been using their studio near Lake Cuomo, Italy, with Dominic saying it is progressing nicely, reports BBC 6 Music.

"We're working on new stuff and we're gonna have a couple of weeks off and then in about two weeks time we’re back out to Italy to start writing again."

"We've already done a few tracks and it sounds great so we're just working to the future."

He also had a few words to say about RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, who were on the bill with his band at the recent Reading Festival

"They just rock out and I came here in 1996, was in the crowd and saw them and I remember with Bombtrack, the whole crowd just kicking off," he said.
