MOVIE REVIEWS THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT

The Haunting in Connecticut , touted as being "based on a true story" of paranormal shenanigans, is receiving some relatively positive films for a movie in this genre. Michael Phillips in the Chicago Tribune comments "The movie bumps along from low-grade scare to scare, and it's not lousy, mainly because Virginia Madsen prevents it from being so." Elizabeth Weitzman in the New York Daily News admits "It was with considerable surprise that I found myself flinching more than once while watching Peter Cornwell's ghost story." Jeannette Catsoulis in the New York Times writes that it will give you "the creeps, the giggles and the groans in almost equal measure." That's also the case with Kyle Smith's review in the New York Post , especially the "giggles" part "The movie," Smith writes, "gets its gears stuck for a solid 45 minutes of stuff jumping out of the background. You know the drill Somebody closes a closet door, there's a brief glimpse of a dark figure in the mirror as the door swings shut, the girl behind you screams as if it's her first horror flick."
