MOVIE BOSSES SUE OVER HINDI MY COUSIN VINNY
Executives at 20th Century Fox have launched a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Bollywood filmmakers - accusing them of remaking 1992 film MY COUSIN VINNY without permission.
Fox bosses have filed a $1.9 million (£1.3 million) claim at India's Bombay High Court accusing officials at BR Films of producing an illegal remake of the Oscar-winning movie.
The legal papers state that BR Films had been granted permission to make a film based on the idea of the U.S. film - but rights for a Hindi-language remake had not been approved.
Fox chiefs claim the storyline of Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai (This Guy is Fearless) is identical to the original film and contains "substantial reproduction".
They are suing seeking damages and an injunction against the release of the Bollywood movie.
Officials at BR Films deny the claims.
