MOTHER OF YAYO'S 'VICTIM' SLAMS RAPPER

LATEST: The mother of the teenage boy allegedly attacked by rapper TONY YAYO has blasted the G-UNIT star for refusing to acknowledge responsibility for the incident. Tony Yayo, real name Marvin Bernard, has been accused with smacking 14-year-old James Rosemond - son of Jimmy 'Henchman' Rosemond, head of rival hip-hop company Czar Entertainment - in a New York City street in March (07). Bernard refused a plea deal on Tuesday (24Jul07) after he was offered a nine month jail sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to the assault. Cynthia Reid, the boy's mother, is disgusted; "It is reprehensible that rap artist Tony Yayo continues to deny responsibility for assaulting, harassing and endangering the welfare of my 14-year-old son whom he senselessly battered in March. "It was blatant and vicious and illustrates Yayo's negligence while proving that he considers himself above the law. It is also indicative of a larger pattern of behaviour by entertainers that do not hold themselves accountable for being peaceful, respectful, and law abiding citizens. I am certain that justice will be served when Tony Yayo stands before a judge." Bernard is currently free on $5,000 (GBP2,500) bail and is scheduled to return to court in September (07).
