MORRISSEY SAYS 'NO' TO EUROVISION
LATEST: British singer MORRISSEY has withdrawn from negotiations to write the UK entry for this year's (07) Eurovision Song Contest citing timing difficulties.
In January (07), the former SMITHS frontman expressed great interest in contributing to the critically-panned competition, but a BBC spokeswoman reveals talks have broken down.
She says, "He will now definitely not be taking part.
"We were in discussion with him and other artists, and he had been genuinely interested, but the timing wasn't right."
The BBC representative also concedes participation in a televised talent contest putting wannabe entrants before a public vote may have led to Morrissey's change of heart.
She says, "Potentially, Morrissey would have been one of five or six acts on our show MAKING YOUR MIND UP."
