MORRISON ATTACKS MUSIC MAGS FOR 'OBSESSION WITH THE PAST'
Singer/songwriter VAN MORRISON has launched a scathing attack on music magazines, accusing them of holding the industry back by focusing on the past. The Grammy-nominated musician, 62, admits he has become disillusioned with the current state of the industry, because publications like Mojo and Q are simply "propaganda". In a rare radio interview on BBC Radio 4's The Today Programme on Monday (10Mar08) morning, he said, "There's an obsession at the moment with what some people call the comics and what I call the propaganda magazines, Mojo, Q Magazine, The Word… There's this obsession with the past. "It's like no one has moved on. The marketplace is going backwards."
