MORGAN FREEMAN HOSPITALISED AFTER CAR ACCIDENT

Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman has been admitted to hospital in a 'serious condition' after a car accident in Mississippi.

The Dark Knight star was involved in an accident at around 23:30 local time near the small time of Ruleville and was airlifted from the scene according to celebrity website TMZ.com.

It is believed the actor was driving on Highway 32 in Tallahatchie County when he lost control of his vehicle, which flipped.

Ashley Norris, who manages the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale owned by Freeman, confirmed the actor had been in a car accident but could not confirm any other details of the incident.

A spokesman for the Mississippi highway patrol said a statement would be released shortly.
