MORGAN BITTER ABOUT GLOBES CANCELLATION
Screenwriter PETER MORGAN is "saddened" that Writers Guild of America (WGA) union members and Hollywood bosses failed to resolve their dispute in time for the Golden Globes. The writers have been on picket lines since November (07), bringing production on Hollywood movies to a standstill and causing a number of TV networks to release staff and air repeat shows. And THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND writer Morgan - whose TV film Longford won a Golden Globe on Sunday (13Jan08) - admits he was disappointed the strike forced the organisers of the ceremony to cancel the event. He says, "The cancellation is another loss of revenue the industry can ill-afford." Morgan, said the event represented "a missed opportunity to put differences aside and bring the community together. "Watching from a distance, the deepening intransigence and hostility feels like a family dispute that has got out of control."
