MONSTERS VS ALIENS SET FOR SMALL SCREEN OUTING

Children's TV channel Nickelodeon has commissioned a TV pilot based on the hit movie MONSTERS VS ALIENS, according to the DreamWorks chief executive officer Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Speaking at the 37th Annual JP Morgan Technology, Media and Telecom Conference in Boston, he confirmed that a small screen version of the flick is in the pipeline.

This follows last week's news that KUNG FU PANDA is also being remade as a TV show, with Nickelodeon and DreamWorks having already worked together on THE PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR.

It was also previously announced that TV specials for both KUNG FU PANDA and SHREK will be aired in 2010.

MONSTERS VS ALIENS hit cinemas across the world in April this year, featuring the vocal talents of Hollywood stars REESE WITHERSPOON, KIEFER SUTHERLAND, SETH ROGEN and HUGH LAURIE.

It follows the story of a young woman who is hit by a meteorite and transformed into a giant monster.

She is then taken to a government compound where she unites with other creatures who have been rounded up over the years.
