MOBY: 'TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION IS GREAT'

Dance music superstar MOBY regrets not dedicating his life to transcendental meditation earlier - because it's a lazy man's dream.
The hitmaker admits he rallied against most things connected to yoga and meditation for years because he was raised by hippies and the whole idea of it "scared the s**t" out of him.
He explains, "I thought that TM involved ritual animal sacrifice and moving to some country and renouncing wealth and materialism."
But, after learning his moviemaker hero David Lynch was one of the world's leading practitioners of transcendental meditation, Moby decided to give it a go.
And he says, "One of the things that impressed me so much about TM when I finally learned it was it's simplicity. It's a simple practice that calms the mind... and the thing that won me over about TM, apart from having my hero David Lynch as its vocal practitioner, was its effectiveness.
"Nothing else helped me quiet my mind and go to a calm, centred place. The thing that makes it effective is you don't have to do all that much, and, as a profoundly lazy person, I appreciate that."

Moby was fantastic as part of the cast of legendary musicians Saturday night that flowed through set after set of inspiring rock and roll with many artists making guest appearances on songs for others. During the many stage set ups David Lynch, Laura Dern, Howard Stern and Jerry Seinfeld added comments and comedy on the positive influence Transcendental Meditation has had in their lives. Background film clips of youngsters in schools around the world who practice TM gave us hope for a new era of peace and happiness. A charming and delightful evening that transcended all my expectations!

nice article about one of the most innovative musicians around today. moby is a genuis. did you listen to that lead guitar work he did in that last song with bettye at radio city? so, so fine. and what a worthy cause. meditation is among the best things to spend money on for our kids. just look at the scientific research verifying TM's benefits and what doctors and researchers from medical schools are saying at www.DoctorsonTM.org . the NIH has so far spent $24 million researching TM's effects on brain function and cardiovascular health, and the science grants keep coming. there is some misunderstanding about TM--some people still think it's a religion, but it's not, and there are no religious trappings. It's a technique, pure and simple. there's no belief required, and no dogma. People of all religions practice it and enjoy the benefits. love moby. love tm. love life. happy easter!
