MILLIONAIRE MOGUL VOWS TO BATTLE MPAA
Shawn Hogan, the CEO of business software firm Digital Point Solutions, has vowed to fight an MPAA lawsuit that charges he illegally downloaded a copy of Universal's Meet the Fockers. Hogan, who says his clients include the Walt Disney Co. and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, not only denied the charge but insisted that he already owns a DVD of the movie. He said Tuesday that he had turned down an offer from the MPAA to settle the lawsuit for $2,500. In an interview with Wired magazine, which noted that none of the hundreds of similar MPAA lawsuits has gone to trial, Hogan said, "They're completely abusing the system. ... I would spend well into the millions on this [lawsuit]."
