MILLER NOT OLD ENOUGH TO PLAY MAID MARIAN
SIENNA MILLER lost the chance to play ROBIN HOOD's sweetheart in RIDLEY SCOTT's new Medieval epic - because she's too young.
The actress had been attached to The Sheriff of Nottingham for over a year but when the project went through a rewrite, it quickly became clear she was no longer the right fit - and Cate Blanchett became the new leading lady.
Miller tells WENN, "The script has been evolving and changing and it often happens in films. They’ve been trying to make this for a couple of years and they rewrote the script and they needed someone who was older.
"There's a husband who has been away at war for 10 years and he comes back, so it’s just not feasible for me to play her. Cate Blanchett is doing it."
Miller insists there have been many other cast changes - but the media refuses to focus on them.
She adds, "The media doesn’t have to make quite as much a meal of it as they do when it happens to me. I’m sure it will be a wonderful project but this is not an absolutely shocking thing to happen in the movie industry when scripts evolve and casts change.
"Other people have changed in that cast, but the media just won’t document it. I would obviously love to work with Ridley and still I hope to in the future."

She is kidding herself, right. First, her PR blamed Crowe for being overweight
and he never defended himself by the way she and her team made fun of his
weight. She does not look that young (27 looking 37) and if age was the issue
for her being booted out of the production, make-up can make her look even
older and the production would have kept her if she was that good of an
actress. She was let go because of her very public adulterous hook-up with
Getty which has made people look at her with disgust. Her being Maid Marian
would have dragged the film down for lack of credibility (box office poison)
plus the public's perception of her amoral behavior.
Sienna is really kidding herself. She doesn't look particularly young,
especially of late. She looks every one of her 27 going on 28 years due to
chain smoking and drinking heavily.
Is Robin going to be married to Maid Marian? Because I thought the plot was
supposed to include him wooing Maid Marian and then proving he is good enough
for her when she doubts his suitability as a suitor? So I am not sure what this
'husband away at war for 10 years' nonsense is about.
This is all according to the plot synopsis that was released last week,
incidentally.
Regardless, I would imagine that Sienna would have been able to play a younger,
pre-husband at war Maid Marian if what she is saying is true...and surely she
could have been aged via the miracle of make up if she needed to be older come
the end of the supposed war? We see that every day. BUT it also has to be said
- pairing a younger woman with an older man would not be a first in Hollywood.
Just look at how old Catherine Zeta Jones was when she was paired with Sean
Connery in Entrapment. She was only 29/30 and he was 69, which makes Sienna's
comments laughable!
Something about this does not smell right.
