MILLER "MORTIFIED" AT DYLAN DEFAMATION CLAIMS
Sienna Miller has said she is "mortified" that Bob Dylan believes a character in her latest film is defamatory about him.
In Factory Girl the 25-year-old actress plays Andy Warhol's muse Edie Sedgewick, who eventually killed herself with an overdose.
Dylan believes that the character Danny Quinn is based on himself and is held responsible for Sedgewick's death.
His lawyer, Orin Synder, told the film's producers: "Even though Mr Dylan's name is not used, the portrayal remains both defamatory and a violation of Mr Dylan's right of publicity."
But Sienna has rejected the claims that the film blames Quinn's character, telling the Observer newspaper: "It doesn't do that at all. It blames Warhol more than anyone, because he did abandon her. She was f****d up, there was a friendship there, she needed help and no one helped her. It's not that Dylan drove her to heroin addiction.
"It very obviously looks and sounds like Dylan, but I think a lot of actors base performances on real life... I've heard from some people that they [Dylan and Sedgwick] did sleep together and from some people that they didn't. From what I heard from her brother, she certainly had a huge crush on him."
Sienna added: "I'm Bob Dylan's biggest fan. I'm mortified that he's p****d off."
Due for release in the UK early this year, Factory Girl also stars Guy Pearce and Hayden Christensen.
