MILEY SMILES FOR FANS AT HANNAH MONTANA UK PREMIERE

Hundreds of fan lined a purple and yellow carpet in London's West End as teen star Miley Cyrus graced the UK premiere of Hannah Montana: The Movie.

Cyrus, 16, and her country singer father Billy Ray posed for photographs and met fans as the film version of her hit Disney Channel series made its British debut.

The comedy sees Cyrus as Miley Stewart, who balances her school life and friendships with her secret life as pop star Hannah Montana.

With Hannah's star spiralling, her father Robbie Ray (Billy Ray Cyrus)takes her to the family home in Crowley Corners, Tennessee, to allow the youngster to reconnect with her roots.

The Disney film debuted at the top of the US box office and achieved the best opening ever for a live action U-rated film.

Achy Breaky Heart singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who plays Miley's onscreen father, said he was "very proud" of his daughter.

"I'm proud of the film. We've got a great cast, a great crew and the fans that are here have been amazing today," he told reporters.

"I love going to work with Miley, I think she's an amazing young lady, got a great deal of talent and she's my little girl, so it's the best of both worlds."

Hannah Montana: The Movie opens in the UK on May 1st.
