MILANO CALLS FOR MORE FEMALE TV LEADS

ALYSSA MILANO has urged TV executives to focus more shows on women - insisting female-driven programmes enjoy longer success on the small screen.
Milano starred in supernatural drama Charmed, about three sisters with magical powers, for eight years after landing the role in 1998.
And the beauty is convinced that actresses in leading roles are the key to longterm success for TV projects - because female fans are the most loyal viewers.
She says, "I think people connected to the sister relationships and women fans are the most loyal in the business. It's absolutely true and it's why most of the female-driven shows do well and last longer."
And there are business benefits too - she adds: "The women buy the most stuff so the networks can charge more for advertising."
