MICHAEL'S $1.7 MILLION ARABIAN GIG
Pop star GEORGE MICHAEL has reportedly signed a $1.7 million (GBP1 million) deal to perform at a lavish Abu Dhabi hotel next month (Nov08) - despite recently staging a series of "retirement" shows.
The singer performed at London's Earl Court in August (08) in a set of final concerts dubbed The Final Two - fuelling speculation he is to quit performing.
But the star doesn't seem able to step away from the spotlight just yet - he has allegedly agreed to play a gig at the $ 5.3 billion (GBP3 billion) Emirate Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi in November (08).
According to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, tickets to the show are expected to be sold for $340 (GBP200) each.
The gig could be seen as a career lifeline for Michael, who was forced to apologise to fans last month (Sep08) following his arrest for drugs possession in London - his second in as many years.

Somehow I don't think George is in it for the money! And since when did
disapproval of sexual preference interfere with one's ability to celebrate a
person's music?? We are actually a very "friendly" bunch here, and we know
truly outstanding musical ability when we see it. This is a wonderful step
forward for the UAE, and we will welcome him with open arms!
My advice would be to not go, given their thoughts on gay people and drugs.
George, you don't need the 1.7 mil. There are plenty of other "friendly"
places that would love to see you perform. If you need the $1.7 mil that
badly, rethink your spending!
