MICHAEL ADMITS 'CONSTANT' DRUG STRUGGLE

George Michael has admitted he is "constantly" attempting to take less marijuana.

Speaking in an interview on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs programme, the former Wham! star said he had mixed feelings over the class C-listed drug.

"I'm constantly trying to smoke less, really. I would absolutely I would like to take less. To that degree it's a problem, yes," he said.

"Is it a problem in my life? Does it get in my life in any way? I don't think so, I really don't think so."

The revelation follows Michael's conviction for driving while unfit in June this year, for which he received 100 hours community service and a two-year driving ban.

The singer was found slumped at the wheel of his car at a north London intersection on May 8th 2006.

Michael is currently promoting his greatest hits album from material drawn from the last quarter of a century as well as serving out his community service.

He said he had already completed approximately 50 "interesting" hours of service which have involved cooking chicken fajitas for homeless people and working with people with mental health problems and drug addictions.

In May he defended cannabis, saying it would be easier if the drug was legalised.

Speaking of the incident which led to his sentence, he told Michael Parkinson's chat show in May: "I did something stupid, and doing something irresponsible is not a position that I am normally used to defending myself in."
