MEAT LOAF SUFFERING FROM 'VERTIGO'
Rocker MEAT LOAF was forced to make an early exit from the Q Awards in London on Monday (06Oct08) after suffering from "vertigo".
The singer was at the ceremony to pick up the prize for Classic Song for his hit single Bat Out Of Hell.
But after giving a rambling acceptance speech, he had to be helped off stage - sparking fears for his health.
At the time, the 61-year-old reportedly blamed medication for a torn retina for his unsteadiness, prompting presenter Alan Carr to poke fun at his condition.
Comedian Carr quipped, "Meat Loaf was a bit worse for wear when he came on. He was on medication, so I'm told - but that's what they all say!
"He tipped forward and almost fell off the stage and I actually saved him! I saved his life!"
However, a representative for the star, real name Melvin Lee Aday, insists it was a result of "vertigo".
