MCMAHON AND GRIFFIN'S CASE DROPPED

A case between late TV titans ED MCMAHON and MERV GRIFFIN, JR. has been dropped after lawyers failed to attend court for a hearing.
The former Tonight Show sidekick, who died in June (09), was sued by the Griffin Group Inc. in September (08) over allegations he never repaid the firm $100,000 (£67,000) that he borrowed in 2005.
But when the matter went to court in Santa Monica, California on Tuesday (06Oct09), there were no lawyers present for either star and the case was subsequently thrown out, reports TMZ.com.
MCMahon's final years were plagued by various legal troubles and financial difficulties which saw him come close to losing his home after falling behind on mortgage payments.
