MCKELLAN NOT INTERESTED IN SOAP RETURN

SIR IAN MCKELLEN has vowed never to star in another TV soap, after fulfilling his lifelong ambition when he appeared in popular British programme CORONATION STREET in 2005. The Lord Of The Rings star, 68, made a guest appearance in a 10-episode stint as conman Mel Hutchwright, but admits he no longer has an interest in returning to the small screen. And MCKellen is enjoying the current break in his hectic schedule, as it allows him to indulge his love of theatre. He says, "No, no, I won't (star in another soap), not again. "I'm still thinking about what to do next. I'm having a little rest at the moment, which is good as I get to go and catch up on plays."
