MCCOY: 'PERRY'S CAKE FALL WAS PLANNED'

LATEST: TRAVIS MCCOY is trying to save girlfriend KATY PERRY's blushes by insisting the pop star's cake dive at the MTV Latin America Awards last week (ends17Oct08) wasn't a slip-up.
The I Kissed A Girl singer appeared to fall into a big pink cake at the end of her performance at the event in Guadalajara, Mexico on Thursday (16Oct08). She then struggled to stand up as she slipped around onstage as band members attempted to help the sticky star get to her feet.
But boyfriend MCCoy insists it was all part of his zany lover's show.
The Gym Class Heroes star says, "She did it on purpose.
"She hit me right after the performance (and said), 'Baby, you gotta see the performance! You gotta see the performance!' and I watched it. And I was like, 'Baby, did you fall?' and she's like, 'I did it on purpose.'"
MCCoy tells MTV News, "It was all planned. I think she murdered it, man... She's a step above, a step ahead, you know? And I've always backed her."
