MCCARTNEY + MILLS AGREE $100 MILLION DIVORCE

SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY and HEATHER MILLS have agreed a $100 million (GBP50 million) divorce settlement, according to reports. The pair attended a secret meeting before a judge at London's Royal Courts Of Justice on Monday (08Oct07) in a bid to avoid media attention. MCCartney and Mills, who wed in 2002 before splitting four years later (06), reportedly wanted to avoid a public hearing, and were keen to settle the dispute ahead of their daughter Beatrice's fourth birthday on 30 October (07). They will meet again at the High Court Family division on Thursday (11Oct07) to finalise the agreement. A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Both Paul and Heather wanted closure on the case before Bea's birthday. It looks like that'll now happen." It is believed The Beatles legend - worth an estimated $1.7 billion (GBP850 million) - has requested a gagging clause which will prevent Mills from talking about their four-year marriage.
