MCCARTNEY HITS OUT AT LED ZEPPELIN TOUR

SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY has expressed his disappointment at LED ZEPPELIN's decision to reunite without frontman ROBERT PLANT.
The Kashmir hitmakers announced last month (Oct08) that they plan to hit the road in 2009 without Plant, who has opted out of the reunion shows.
The remaining stars, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and the late John Bonham's son, Jason, are now auditioning singers to take over vocals.
But fans of the rockers don't want to see the group with another frontman - and former Beatle MCCartney concedes it won't be the same without Plant.
He says, "What's happened to Planty? He was great at their gig. It's such a pity."

Okay... first of all where does Sir Paul get off calling Robert Plant "Planty?" Anyone who knows the band knows that their nicknames are Pagey for Jimmy Page and Percy for Plant. Why? There was an English TV show about a plant named Percey several years ago. Second, I took my kid to hear McCartney at Madison Square Gardens because he wanted to hear any member of his first group. I was lucky enough as a very young kid to hear The Beatles in Italy. I never went to hear Wings; not interested. Anyway, let's just say that Paul McCartney, as talented as he is is not a fraction of what the Beatles were. I'd pay to hear Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones (for my kid) to play with just about anyone except that woman at the Olympics. And McCartney's concert was soooo lame. Anyone who can rock as he can, who can scream Long Tall Sally singing about "nanny bakes fairy cakes" in the English Garden tea song should think about his audience. We tolerate it. Page is not going to play about English tea! At least he gives it all he's got (except at the Olympics)and is not a self-indulgent egomaniac. Sir Paul, live and let live. Not die as you sing.

Your article is inaccurate. Led Zeppelin did not announce that they were going on tour in 2009 as Led Zeppelin. John Paul Jones said they were auditioning singers but they didn't want to find a Plant clone. Once they find a singer, the hope to do an album and a tour. Jimmy Page's management company stated on his behalf that the project will be a new band and not use the name "Led Zeppelin'" without the involvement of Robert Plant. The only one mentioning a 2009 Led Zeppelin tour without Plant is the media. Therefore, your article is perpetuating a myth. Moreover, McCartney did not "hit out" at the ficticious Led Zeppelin tour. He just asked "where's Planty" and said it would be a pity. Please be more responsible with your journalism and stop perpetuating misinformation!
