MCCARTHY: 'LEARY IS UNINFORMED ABOUT AUTISM'

LATEST: Actress JENNY MCCARTHY has branded DENIS LEARY "obviously stupid" over comments made in his new lifestyle book about children with autism.
The actor-turned-author sparked outrage among activists for young autism sufferers when an excerpt from Why We Suck: A Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid was printed in a U.S. newspaper on Wednesday (15Oct08).
In the book, Leary claims parents use the brain development disorder as an excuse to explain their children's "laziness".
But MCCarthy, whose son Evan is autistic, is angry the Rescue Me star has spoken out on a topic she maintains he is misinformed about.
She tells Access Hollywood, "Whoo! First of all, let me tell you, the autism community has received probably 10,000 emails (saying) 'Go kill him! Go yell at him!'"
"(But) it's so hard to even get up enough juice in me or energy in me to even try to fight someone that is obviously stupid."
Leary has since released a statement claiming his comments had been taken out of context.
