MARTIN NOMINATED FOR SIX BLUEGRASS AWARDS

Funnyman/writer STEVE MARTIN has landed six nominations for the upcoming International Bluegrass Music Association Awards.
The Pink Panther star's first album of banjo tunes, The Crow: New Songs for the Five String Banjo, has been a critical and commercial hit, and is currently atop Billboard’s bluegrass chart.
In the nominations, handed out on Thursday (13Aug09), Martin was named among the best banjo players and the album will compete for the Best Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year.
O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack star Dan Tyminski led all nominations, with nine. Tyminski, a member of Alison Krauss’ band Union Station, is nominated in categories including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist and Song of the Year.
The 20th annual BMA awards will be presented at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee in October (09).
