MARR RULES OUT SMITHS REUNION
Former THE SMITHS guitarist JOHNNY MARR has blasted reports the legendary 80s band are planning a comeback - because he doesn't want to "go back in time".
The influential rockers, fronted by singer Morrissey, dominated the British music scene in the 1980s but split in 1987.
In recent years, Morrissey and Marr have been dogged with rumours they are set to reunite, despite both musicians pursuing successful post-Smiths careers.
And Marr has now broken his silence on a possible comeback, insisting he is too busy with his current band, The Cribs, to consider reforming The Smiths.
He tells NME.com, "The stories circulating about a Smiths reunion are, as usual, untrue. I'm currently very excited about writing and recording with The Cribs for a new album to be released next summer and we're playing shows in February, so going back in time isn't in my plans."
