MARR QUIET ON REUNION RUMOURS

JOHNNY MARR is keeping quiet about the possibility of a reunion for his former band THE SMITHS.

Rumours have been circulating in the press this week that the much-loved band are set to reform, but guitarist Marr is giving nothing away on the subject.

"Right…ok…I haven't really given it much thought," was his only response to BBC 6 Music when asked about the reunion.

However, he was happy to discuss mastering the latest the band's latest compilation – THE SOUND OF THE SMITHS.

Marr claimed that some past SMITHS compilations have been lacking in terms of production, so he was glad to be invited for the job.

"So I think everyone was glad that I stepped up to the breach. I didn't have to do it, it could have come out anyway – but I just felt like it was doing a disservice to the band and the people who were buying the records," he said.

THE SOUND OF THE SMITHS is released next month.
