MARK MORRISON: LEICESTER DOESN'T LOVE ME

MARK MORRISON has lashed out of his hometown of Leicester, claiming it does not show him the respect he deserves.

The singer - perhaps best-remembered for his hit Return of the Mack in 1996 - told the Leicester Mercury he will never return to the city.

Furthermore, he appears to be irked that its inhabitants have never celebrated him as their own version of one of the most legendary bands of all time.

"That place has shown me nothing but contempt," he said..

"Believe it, baby, I ain't never, ever, ever going back to Leicester."

And speaking of his place in the musical pantheon, he told Chemical Toilet: "I will always be the all-time musical great of your city. I'm The Beatles of that city."

He also pointed out that several of the city's other famous sons such as GARY LINEKER, ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK and, er, SHOWADDYWADDY have done little to give anything back to its people.

MARK MORRISON is 36 years old.
