MARGULIES: 'DENTIST IS TO THANK FOR MY NEW TV ROLE'

Actress JULIANNA MARGULIES credits her dentist with landing her the lead role in new U.S. TV drama CANTERBURY'S LAW. The former E.R. star was visiting her New York dentist when she spotted Denis Leary in the waiting room and introduced herself to the actor. And just one week later, Leary - who is an executive producer on Canterbury's Law - cast Margulies in the show's lead role - as a tough defence attorney. She says, "My dentist is like my surrogate father, and I had no idea Denis goes to the same dentist. So I see him, I go up and say hi, and a week later, I realise I'm working for him. OK, that's weird." Leary adds, "I ran into her there (at the dentist), she was coming out, I was going in. I was a big admirer of her work, and we chatted for five minutes. She was funny and sweet."
