MARDIN'S SON COMPLETES DAD'S FINAL TRIBUTE
The tribute album music mogul ARIF MARDIN was recording when he died in June (06) will be completed by his producer son JOE. The Atlantic Records producer, who masterminded some of ARETHA FRANKLIN and DUSTY SPRINGFIELD's biggest hits, was busy recruiting stars to perform tracks he'd penned for a swansong album when pancreatic cancer took his life. But the project is still very much alive with his son recording his father's hits with the likes of BETTE MIDLER, NORAH JONES and CARLY SIMON. The album will also feature new track ALL MY FRIENDS ARE HERE, which the songwriting legend wrote on his death bed.
