MARADONA HOSPITALISED FOR OVERINDULGENCE

Argentine soccer legend DIEGO MARADONA was admitted to a Buenos Aires hospital against his will on Wednesday (28MAR07) after over-indulging in food, alcohol and tobacco. The retired sports ace, 46, was taken to Guemes Hospital by ambulance after failing ill at his parents' house. His doctor ALFREDO CAHE says, "He didn't have a very consistent lifestyle, in his eating habits, his drinking and the amount of cigars he smoked." Cahe added Maradona's health problems "does not have any relation to the consumption of dangerous drugs". This is the latest in a string of health problems for Maradona - he suffered heart attacks in 2000 and 2004 after overdosing on cocaine. In 2005, he slimmed down after undergoing gastric bypass surgery. He is expected to remain in hospital for several days.
