MANILOW CANCELS APPEARANCE ON THE VIEW
Legendary singer BARRY MANILOW has cancelled a scheduled appearance on U.S. TV show THE VIEW, because he dislikes co-host ELISABETH HASSELBECK.
The mild-mannered Mandy singer was scheduled to appear on the daytime show on Tuesday (17Sep07) to promote his new covers album, The Greatest Songs of The Seventies.
But Manilow pulled out of the show, after stating he finds right-wing host Hasselbeck "dangerous and offensive" and strongly disagrees with her "conservative views."
In a statement, Manilow says, "I strongly disagree with her views. I think she's dangerous and offensive. I will not be on the same stage as her... I cannot compromise my beliefs."
He adds, "I had made a request that I be interviewed by co-hosts Joy (Behar), Barbara (Walters) or Whoopi (Goldberg), but not Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Unfortunately, the show was not willing to accommodate this simple request, so I bowed out."
Manilow's pal Rosie O'Donnell quit The View in May (07) after a heated and politically-charged public dispute with Hasselbeck.

Barry, As a fan of yours for many years, I have to say I am so dissapointed in
you. Not appearing on The View because of Elizabeth's views is so
un-American! I guess because I don't agree with your views or political
opinions......I should not attend anymore of your concerts or buy any more of
your CDs. It is so sad to see "americans" who have no tolerance of people with
a different viewpoint. Elizabeth is not dangerous or offensive....but Barry,
people like you ARE! Barry, I am proud to be the wife of a military man and so
happy that we still have young men in this Country that volunteer to protect
our Country and way of life and to give each and everyone of us the opportunity
to voice our differences. I think you owe Elizabeth Hasslebeck a great Big
apology!

Why do people care that Hasselbeck has conservative views? She's outnumbered
anyway so what's his problem. Wussy. Supposedly, 80% of the country doesn't
agree with her views so again, where's the issue? She's like the token
conservative just so they can say they have one on the show. I guess he has
the new album to promote and needs the publicity.
