MAMMA MIA! BECOMES UK'S BIGGEST SELLING DVD

The Abba-inspired Mamma Mia! has become the UK's biggest-selling DVD of all time.

The Official Charts Company (OCC) claims the film has been sold more than five million times, making it the number one DVD in 2008 and of all time.

The previous best-selling DVD was Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl which has sold 4.7 million copies, followed by the Lord of the Rings films Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers.

Mamma Mia! also became the fastest-selling DVD when it was released in mid November.

Martin Talbot, managing director of the OCC, said in a statement: "Right from its release, Mamma Mia! has been a record breaker.

"This latest landmark further underlines the popularity of the movie, which is now officially the British public's favourite DVD of all time."
