MAINES SUED FOR DEFAMATION
The stepfather of a murdered Arkansas child is suing DIXIE CHICKS star NATALIE MAINES for defamation.
Terry Hobbs claims the outspoken country singer alleged that he was involved in the killings of three young boys, including his stepson, during a concert in the state last year (07).
Three other men were arrested and jailed for the 1993 West Memphis murders, but Maines, along with other celebrities, are urging the authorities to overturn the original conviction.
Other acts took part in the Little Rock rally last year, and Hobbs names Maines' bandmates in his suit - but focuses on Maines for comments she made during the concert.
It isn't the first time the singer's outspoken nature has landed her in trouble - country radio stations banned the Dixie Chicks and former fans burned their CDs after Maines criticised U.S. President George W. Bush during a show in London in 2003.
