MADONNA'S TAX RECORDS SHOW INCREASE IN KABBALAH DONATIONS
MADONNA has proved her dedication to Kabbalah by donating $5.1 million (GBP2.55 million) to its charities, according to her tax records.
The pop star first publicly embraced the faith in 2001 - three years after she founded her own non-profit the Ray of Light Foundation, which seeks to benefit health, music and children-related charities.
But according to U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) filings, the organisation has given just 25 per cent, or $1.3 million (GBP650,000), to non-Kabbalah groups.
Prior to the shift in donations, records indicate Ray of Light made contributions to more than two dozen charities between 1998 and 2000 - the same year the foundation gave $500,000 (GBP250,000) of $1.24 million (GBP620,000) to Kabbalah-related organisations.
In 2006, the Ray of Light foundation raised $341,124 (GBP170,562) - and a $250,000 (GBP125,000) share of that went to Kabbalah-based charities.
