MADONNA HATES NICKNAME 'MADGE'

MADONNA despises the nickname given to her by the British press so much, she couldn't wait to move back to New York City after her divorce from GUY RITCHIE.
The Queen of Pop is regularly referred to as 'Madge' in the U.K. - but she hates the name, even though it's mainly used as a term of endearment.
She tells U.S. talk show host David Letterman, "That's one of the reasons I left England, so I didn't have to hear that word anymore.
"Some people say Madge is a colloquialism for kinda like a boring, middle aged housewife and some people say it's short for 'Majesty'. I think it can be quite respectable."
Madonna's divorce from director Ritchie was finalised in 2008 and she has since relocated to the Big Apple, where she first rose to fame.
