Madonna Confirmed As Headliner For Radio 1'S Big Weekend
Madonna will headline Radio 1's Big Weekend next month, it has been announced.
The queen of pop will take to the main stage at Mote Park in Maidstone, Kent, on Saturday May 10th.
Chris Moyles announced the lead acts for this year's festival during his show on Radio 1 this morning.
Also playing on the Saturday are the Fratellis, Usher, Scouting for Girls, Duffy and the Feeling, as well as Robyn and the Hoosiers.
On Sunday May 11th the Kooks and the Enemy top the bill, with Nelly, Goldfrapp, the Pigeon Detectives, Newton Faulkner, OneRepublic and Adele performing as well.
Tickets for the annual event, 30,000 of which are up for grabs, are weighted towards people who live locally, with listeners able to register for tickets from 08:00 BST today.
Jason Carter, head of live music and events for Radio 1 and 1Xtra, told Newsbeat: "Now with our eighth Radio 1's Big Weekend, we are delighted to be bringing the event to the south of England for the first time, to Maidstone, Kent.
"The event continues to grow in stature year on year and this year promises to be the best yet with four stages and a cross-section of the best performing artists from the newest UK acts right through to some of the biggest performers in the world."
Madonna is currently topping the UK singles chart after her latest release 4 Minutes went straight to number one.
