MADNESS BACK ON THE ROAD

Nutty popsters Madness are getting back on the road with a seven-date stadium tour of the UK, it has been announced today.

Suggs and co will perform in Aberdeen, Belfast, Liverpool, Cardiff, Plymouth and Birmingham in December, before bringing down the curtain on the pre-Christmas histrionics at the O2 Arena in London on December 14th.

The band's promoters say the tour will kickstart a "new era" for the full strength line-up of Suggs, Chas Smash, Chrissy Boy, El Thommo, Woody, Barso and Bedders when it kicks off on December 6th.

One of the biggest-selling groups of the 1980s, Madness returned to the public eye after a secret gig at Glastonbury's Lost Vagueness earlier this summer.

Suggs and the rest of the seminal north London group were also involved in an attempt to break the record for the most people kissing at one time – stopping their early-hours Glasto gig to order about 25,000 revellers to lock lips with the person next to them.

The band are tipped to perform another secret set at Bestival in the Isle of Wight next weekend.

"With rumours of some truly inspired collaborations in the pipeline, more secret gigs up their sleeve and a host of innovative new ways of showcasing their abundant creativity, it's time for Madness to step forward and prove that, as ever, they are one step beyond," a spokesperson for the group said.

Madness on tour:

Dec 6th - Aberdeen Press and Journal Arena
Dec 7th - Belfast Odyssey
Dec 8th - Liverpool Aintree Pavilion
Dec 10th - Cardiff International Arena
Dec 11th - Plymouth Pavilions
Dec 12th - Birmingham NEC
Dec 14th - London 02 Arena
