MADEA REMAINS ON TOP AT U.S. BOX OFFICE

TYLER PERRY's new comedy movie MADEA GOES TO JAIL has taken the top spot at the U.S. box office for a second week, with takings of $16.5 million (£11.7 million) at the weekend (27Feb-01Mar09).
The film, about an African American matriarch's run-ins with the law, scored Perry's biggest ever opening weekend, taking $41.1 million (£29 million) last weekend (20-22Feb09), and remains on course to become his biggest hit.
The Jonas Brothers followed at second place with the debut of their offering, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, which garnered $12.7 million (£9 million).
Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire rose from five to three, earning $12.2 million (£8.6 million) one week after landing eight prizes at the Academy Award ceremony last Sunday (22Feb09). The film has earned $115.1 million (£81.3 million) after 16 weekends on the charts.
Liam Neeson's thriller Taken took the fourth spot with $10 million (£7.1 million), while romantic comedy He's Just Not That Into you took fifth with $5.9 million (£4.2 million) in earnings.
