MACY 'SCARED' BY SPEED-THE-PLOW PERFORMANCE

JEREMY PIVEN's Broadway successor WILLIAM H. MACY is relieved his debut performance on SPEED-THE-PLOW is over - because taking on the show so quickly was "the scariest thing" he has ever done.
MACy took over from Piven on Tuesday (13Jan09) after the Entourage star abruptly quit the David Mamet play on doctor's orders after falling ill with mercury poisoning.
And Academy Award nominee MACy admits he was under intense pressure to learn the demanding role in just over two weeks.
MACy says, "It was the scariest thing I've ever done. It's a hard play. It's a very, very difficult play technically, and it's a play that's been going on for a while.
"Speed in that play is something - they go about 80 miles-per-hour... I had 15 days to learn the lines and they're very, very difficult. They are up there with Hamlet."
